The Colorado Aviation Historical Society Aviation Archaeology (AvAr) program will be conducting an expedition to the Wichita State crash site on Saturday, August 17, 2024. This interpretive field exercise is intended for interested individuals and groups wishing to learn more about aviation archaeology.
Leading this exercise will be noted aviation archaeologist Col. Ernie Leroy (USAF Ret.), who will provide a brief summary of events leading this 1970 accident and who will help attendees interpret the debris field.
Although this climb will be made over established trails it is a moderate hike to elevations above 11,000 feet MSL, and it is incumbent upon each participant to assess her/his own fitness for the trek. Total time in the field for this exercise will be approximately three hours.
If you wish to register for this event or need further information, please contact Brian at Coloradoahs.org@gmail.com
We look forward to having you along.
